Letter to the Gang in the Ivory Tower (Ventura City Hall)
It seems to be quite obvious that 4 members of the Gang in the Ivory Tower arent playing with a full deck. The city of Ventura was cited by the State of California for being remiss in building the amount of residential units required for the expected increase in population. For about 2 to 3 years now the "Smart Planners" have been touting a "walkable city". You now say we are at the minimum 4 million dollars short in our budget, because of the shortage of property taxes and sales taxes.
Finally a developer comes along with a plan to build 300 apartment units on a piece of property that has lain fallow for quite a few years, this would help with our residential growth plan. This plan would obviously increase property taxes, because of the juxtaposition of the proposed apartments to the already huge amount of retail businesss we could also expect an increase in sales tax. With the location as it is this would also be a great area for "walking" for the people that would eventually live there.
Three members of the Gang clearly let our Mayor "Big Hair" Weir coerce them into voting as she felt they should. Her only statement was that she felt we needed more retail space, if she would take a good look around Ventura she would see there is more than enough retail space, as a matter of fact go out and count the amount of retail spaces that are for lease. Then to really top it off Mr Fulton opened his mega-mouth and inserted both of his feet when he announced that his fear is if the apartments were built they would become a breeding ground for NIMBYS.
Of course these NIMBYS, as soon as they bred enough would put a hurt on the cities plan for expanding that area. The funny part of this statement is that it was the NIMBYS and BANANAS that voted Mr Fulton back into office.
As I have said in the past, it may not be your fault. I am convinced that embedded in the interiors of the massive thrones you sit on at each meeting are some sort of mind controlling substances. It causes the person that sits in those chairs to regress on the evolutionary scale.
