A Simi Valley high school student wants to give back to her community
Ashley Dahlgren who is a senior in high school called me to say she wanted to do something to give back to the community. Ashley wanted to do a project to earn money for a non-profit organization. She chose Loving Heart Hospice Foundation who is affiliated with TLC Home Hospice in Moorpark because she is very interested in hospice and the care hospice gives to patients and families. "I lost my grandmother recently, and I saw how difficult it was on my mom and the rest of the family when my grandmother was so sick. I only wished she could have had the loving support that hospice brings", says Ashley. For her project Ashley decided to hold a garage sale on Saturday April 19, 2008 in Simi Valley to benefit low-income terminally ill hospice patients, and what a success it was! Ashley made $647.30 and she is donating the entire amount to Loving Heart Hospice Foundation. Loving Heart Hospice Foundation is a 501(c)(3) and serves all of Ventura County and the San Fernando Valley. The Foundation provides financial aid to low-income terminally ill patients and their families for supplemental hospice services.
