Morning Report: 3 injured, 5 arrested in Santa Paula fight

Police and Fire: Police arrested five people late last night in connection with a fight at a Santa Paula residence that left three of them injured, authorities said.

Santa Paula police responding about 10:35 p.m. to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of E. Santa Paula Street found several men fighting, according to a statement from the Santa Paula Police Department. When officers tried to stop the fight, several people forced the door closed and locked them outside.

After forcing their way into the residence, officers detained 12 people, three of whom were injured.

Police later arrested all three people who were injured, as well as two teenagers.

Luis Rodriguez, 27, of Santa Paula, was taken to Santa Paula Hospital in an ambulance with injuries he sustained in the fight. Rodriguez is suspected of stabbing two other men during the brawl, police said. He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer with force or violence.

The two Santa Paula men who were stabbed Nahum Urbina, 18, and Marco Espinosa, 20 declined treatment from paramedics, police said. Officers took both men to Santa Paula Hospital for medical evaluations and arrested them on suspicion of resisting an officer with force or violence.

Rodriguez, Urbina and Espinosa were booked into Ventura County Jail.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl were also arrested following the fight on suspicion of resisting, obstructing or delaying a police officer and violating their probation terms, police said. The names of the teenagers were not released because they are juveniles.

Put them in a room and let them finish each other off. They will try again when they are let out so why not save them some time.

No comment needed ... except to note that it would take pages to document the history of great contributions these fine folks have made to Ventura County.
