SIMI VALLEY
Support group for people of low vision available
The Low Vision Support Group meets from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays at the Simi Valley Senior Center. Learn about devices and strategies to make life easier.
Spend time with others who understand the frustration that comes with the physical limitations of diminished vision.
The Braille Institute participates by sending the Mobile Solutions Van every other month with specialized equipment.
Coffee is served and sometimes bingo is offered with large print cards.

Bus trip to River Palms casino in Laughlin set
Bus trips to Laughlin, Nev., are being organized and offered by a private party based in Ventura.
May Madness to the River Palms casino is being planned for May 26-28.
Cost is $130 for single, $105 for double. For information, call 658-1397.
OXNARD
Barbershop harmony group seeks singers
The Channel Islands Clippers men's barbershop chorus is seeking volunteers to sing at various events throughout the county.
The chorus is a nonprofit group that meets from 7 to 10 p.m. each Tuesday at Wilson Park Center, 350 North C St., Oxnard. All men 16 and older are welcome.

Healthcare conference scheduled at hospital
The Ventura County Homecare Association will host its annual Options for Care, Boomers & Beyond, Health Care in the 21st Century symposium from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at St. John's Regional Medical Center, 1600 N. Rose Ave.
Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara, will speak.
Keynote speaker will be Jeffrey B. Allan, a geriatric specialist. He will address "The Future of Geriatric Health Care."
Lori P. Michiel, a certified fitness trainer, will speak about the problems of balance, and offer exercises and suggestions.
There will be a continental breakfast, door prizes, a grand prize and exhibitors.
