Santa Paula's Elizarraraz resigns
Manny Elizarraraz, only the second boys' varsity head coach in school history, has resigned.
Elizarraraz had guided the Santa Paula program for the past 13 seasons, succeeding Joe Magdaleno. Elizarraraz is a Santa Paula graduate.
During his tenure, Santa Paula won three Frontier League championships and made 11 straight CIF playoff appearances. Three of his players were league MVPs and a number have earned All-CIF honors.
"It was time for a change for the program and myself," said Elizarraraz.
Elizarraraz is coaching under-11 and under-12 girls' club teams for the Real California soccer program.
"It would be hard for me to coach three teams during the high school season," he said.
