Cobra Golf's FP irons hits the market
New on the market: Cobra Golf's FP irons.
The scoop: The re-engineered FP irons introduce several new design and construction features resulting in
exciting new performance benefits.
According to Cobra, the new FP irons have a unique combination of forgiveness with playability. A new head design and full cavity backed plate with urethane membrane offer enhanced feel along with a great look, while the relieved mid-width sole design, and increased perimeter weighting provide superior forgiveness and playability under a wide variety of conditions.
An undercut cavity and mid-width sole head design help to create a low and back center of gravity for greater forgiveness and increased levels of playability.
The heel-toe perimeter weighting is designed to produce a higher moment of inertia. A new urethane insert and full back cavity plate each enhance feel, while the urethane insert allows 10 to 20 grams of weight to be redistributed to the heel and toe for optimal moment of inertia.
"The new 2008 King Cobra FP iron line provides significant design and technological improvements from its award-winning predecessor," said Jeff Harmet, President, Cobra Golf and Titleist Clubs. "From the sleeker head and new mid-width sole design to the new brand and model shafts, we've made improvements that provide avid golfers the perfect blend of forgiveness and playability with outstanding feel."
Scott Rice, director of research and development for Cobra Golf said the new irons are designed for a wide range of players.
"Golfers of all abilities will appreciate the higher moment of inertia and lower center of gravity for even more consistent distance and ball flight across the hitting area," Rice said. "In addition, the new modern head profile and enhanced aesthetics give golfers confidence at address and set-up."
What they cost: The King Cobra FP Irons are available now in men's graphite and steel shafts and women's and
seniors graphite shafts. The new King Cobra FP irons carry a suggested retail price of $720 (graphite) and $600 (steel).
