Magnificent Moorpark Highlands residence offers upgrades galore

For the homebuyer with discerning taste but a limited pocketbook, there are, indeed, magnificent homes available in desirable areas of east Ventura County. Located in the Magnolia Lane tract in the hills of Moorpark, the upscale home on 6573 Pinnacle Court is an incredible find at a reasonable price.

Offered at only $799,000, the 2,973 square-foot, five-bedroom, three-and-one-half bathroom residence is so upgraded that it's nearly incomparable to others available in this scenic area, very close to shopping and schools, yet far enough away to be a serene enclave.

From the neatly manicured front lawn to the tile roof to the decorative accents that give it the flavor of old-world Spain, the faade is one of classic beauty.

Inside, however, is where the home's panache is truly realized.

"I credit the current owners for making it a showplace," said listing agent Christy Rueckert of Troop Real Estate. "Whatever could be upgraded, they did, including the additional bedroom."

Upon entering, a quick look to the left, one sees a downstairs bedroom and attached three-quarter bath, an option that was requested when the home's current owners purchased the property new in 2006. Most of the development's original home buyers did not opt for the feature, but this well-thought out addition makes maximum use of the area as a guest bedroom and bathroom. The space also can be utilized as a mother-in-law's suite, nanny's quarters or teen hangout.

The home's inner sanctum is warm and welcoming, with tasteful, neutral-toned, textured walls and magnificent slate and hardwood floors, which are yet another upgrade specially requested by the owners.

The interior is a series of open spaces that are subtly divided using clever architectural elements. The first communal area is the living room, with a slate fireplace and dark sage wall, giving a splash of color and drama. The living room flows perfectly into the large and airy formal dining room, which segues into the inviting family room, the ultimate place to relax or socialize.

The family room has a door leading to the outside patio, which features elegant stamped concrete, as well as dual planters, and a lion's head fountain that gives the backyard a Mediterranean feel.

Inside, the entertainer's kitchen is another part of this open floor plan, with upgraded black granite countertops, rich wood cabinets, separate eat-in area, double ovens, gas stove top, brushed-nickel drawer pulls, and an unusual, diamond-shaped island as its centerpiece. There's a door that leads to the attached three-car garage, which also has an area that can be converted to a bonus room, if desired.

Next to the staircase is a discrete half-bathroom and nearby coat closet.

Up the carpeted stairs is a surprise — a cozy loft that can be used as a playroom, sitting area or upstairs family room. The windows allow for plenty of natural light and there's a large niche with cable connection, ready for the addition of an entertainment center.

"The current owners love having this room as a play area," Rueckert said. "The entire family comes upstairs and plays or reads together."

The spacious master bedroom leads into the spa-sized bathroom, with its stand-alone shower, luxurious bathtub and double sinks. The materials used are again of the upgraded variety: a polished marble-tiled tub and shower, and exquisite travertine floors. There's also a separate room for the commode, and a walk-in closet.

Another upstairs bedroom currently is being used as an office, but easily can accommodate a child or guest. The remaining two bedrooms share a unique feature: a Romeo-and-Juliet balcony that looks out over the front yard.

There's also an indoor laundry room on the second floor, as well as another full bathroom with double sinks.

Other amenities throughout the house include numerous windows with wood shades, ceiling fans, motion sensor and dimmer lights, recessed lighting and an outdoor lighting package that allows for easy attachment of holiday lights.

The homeowner also has access to a community pool and spa. In addition, there are future plans to complete a large recreation center for those living in the Moorpark Highlands community.

Buyers interested in this beautifully-upgraded home can take a tour today from 1 to 3:30 p.m., or call Rueckert at 377-4746 for more information.
