Westlake High junior wins FCWT tournament
Brandon Hagy, a junior at Westlake High, won the Future Collegians World Tour Hunter Ranch Invitational that was held last weekend at Hunter Ranch Golf Club in Paso Robles.
Hagy finished the two-day event with a total of 6-under 138, posting rounds of 68-70, good for a three-stroke victory. Hagy had 14 birdies, seven each day, helping propel him to his first FCWT victory.
By virtue of the win, Hagy earned an exemption into an upcoming American Junior Golf Association event as well as an invitation to the FCWT National Championship in Florida in May.
Thousand Oaks resident Scott Patterson and Chris Gilbert of Simi Valley each finished in a tie for 19th at 6 over.
Big Brother/Big Sister event: With Corey Pavin taking time off from hosting the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Golf Classic so he can spend time with his new daughter, Alexis Le, NFL Hall of Famer Lynn Swann takes over as host of the event, which will celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year.
The event serves as the primary fundraiser for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ventura County. This year's event is scheduled for April 28 at the Saticoy Country Club. There are still a few spots available, but they are going quickly.

Barber heading to Canada: Tommy Barber, a member of the Channel Islands Sharks golf team, has earned full playing privileges for the 2008 Canadian Tour.
Barber finished in a tie for 14th at the Canadian Golf Tour's California Winter Qualifying School held last week at Carlton Oaks Country Club and Steele Canyon Golf Club, both in San Diego.
Barber, whose father Tom owns the Barber Practice Center in Moorpark, finished the four-day event with a total of 289.
Hole-in-one report: Linwood Howe recorded his third career hole in one on the 13th hole at Saticoy Country Club, using a 9-wood. It was witnessed by Dustan Howard, Mike Hogan and Dan Beach.
Two foursomes later, Vincent Zurzolo aced the same hole. Zurzolo's hole in one was witnessed by Pat Kelly, Alan Gordon and Gary Channer.
Doug Jacobs of Ventura aced the 155-yard third hole at River Ridge, using a hybrid. It was witnessed by Jay Jacobs.
Jerry Sweeting made a hole in one at the 178-yard sixth hole at Los Robles, using a hybrid. It was witnessed by Walter Parness.
Finlay Young aced the 150-yard ninth hole at Victoria Lakes, using a 7-iron. It was witnessed by Bob Adamek.
Sterling Hills women to host tournament: The Sterling Hills Women's Golf Association is hosting its third annual invitational tournament at Sterling Hills on May 7. All proceeds from this tournament will again benefit Villa Esperanza Services in Ventura County.
Cost is $90 and includes greens fees, breakfast and other prizes.
