Ventura County firefighters extinguished a 4-acre blaze near Lake Casitas on Monday afternoon.
The fire, reported at 2:06 p.m., started when gusty winds blew ashes from a permitted agricultural burn into some nearby grass, Ventura County Fire Department Capt. Wayne Maynard said. The fire burned four acres of grass and chaparral along a creek bed south of Lake Casitas.
The rancher responsible for the permitted burn used a tractor and a water truck to partially control the flames before fire crews arrived, Maynard said.
Firefighters fully contained the blaze within 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened, Maynard said.
