Wood carries Santa Clara again
Cierre Wood has been the ultimate multi-purpose player.
The Santa Clara High junior rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns, intercepted two passes, blocked a punt and caught a TD pass to lead the Saints to a 33-7 win over Flintridge Prep on the road.
It was Wood's third straight game with 20 or more points and 300 all-purpose yards for Santa Clara (2-1-1).
Getting his first start at quarterback, Randi Vines threw a 60-yard TD strike to Wood on his first attempt. Vines also has eight tackles and a sack.
Daniel Garcia and Svondo Bradley had 11 and nine tackles, respectively.
