Santa Clara's Wood runs for 257 yards in 20-20 tie

Cierre Wood ran for 257 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Santa Clara High football team played to a 20-20 tie at L.A. Baptist on Saturday night.

Despite both coaches wanting to play overtime, the game was called after regulation by officials because it was a non-league game.

L.A. Baptist missed a field-goal attempt with 11 seconds left in the game.

Wood had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and a 63-yard TD run in the first quarter, and a 12-yard TD run in the second. The sensation junior would have three more touchdowns, but they were called back because of penalties.

Santa Clara (1-1-1) scored all of its points in the first half.
