Highlights: Cal Lutheran — The Regals were beaten on a wet field. Despite seven saves from goalkeeper Kristin Borzi, the Regals couldn't keep the Athenas down and allowed the lone goal in the 44th minute. The Regals managed eight shots, two on goal. CLU travels to Redlands on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. SCIAC match.

Highlights: Cal Lutheran — Ryan Dosh scored in the 93rd minute. Josh Moskowitz scored in the 12th minute off an assist by Chris Estes. Claremont scored an own goal by the Kingsmen. Steffen Isetorp scored the tying goal.

Game scores: 25-19, 22-25, 25-17, 25-15.
Highlights: Channel Islands — Jasmine Russell had 36 assists and seven kills. Andi Perez and Stacey Geuijo had 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Thacher — Anne Turner had 16 kills. Maddi Sowash had nine kills. Mackenzie Boss had 33 assists.
Records: Channel Islands 5-0, Thacher 2-1.
EIGHT-MAN FOOTBALL
Thacher 22, Montclair Prep 16
At Thacher
Highlights: Thacher — Chris Thomas scored on a 38-yard run with less than two minutes left in the game to break a 16-16 tie. Griffin Triplett rushed for 90 yards on 18 carries and scored on two 1-yard runs. Triplett also had seven tackles, one sack, one caused fumble and one fumble recovery in the rain-soaked game.
Records: Thacher 1-1, Montclair Prep 0-2.
CORNERSTONE CHRISTIAN 46, FIRST LUTHERAN 38
Omega League, Friday at Rio Mesa
Highlights: Cornerstone Christian — The Eagles rallied from a 38-15 halftime deficit. Willie Kudera threw five touchdown passes, two to Jordan Bridges. John Rossie rushed for a touchdown and was on the receiving end of a score. Mike Long and Kendall Rettig caught touchdown passes. Long made nine tackles and caused a fumble. Justin Kiraly had 10 tackles and recovered a fumble. Cornerstone Christian will play Saturday against Westmark in Encino at 1 p.m.
Record: Cornerstone Christian 2-1, 2-0 Omega League.
VENTURA COUNTY CHRISTIAN 16, PILGRIM 0
Omega League at Sylmar First Lutheran
Highlights: Ventura County Christian — Adam Flores scored on 45-yard interception return. Brian Tolley added a 7-yard touchdown run. Cheyne Eppard was the leading rusher with 52 yards on 14 carries. Eppard made 13 tackles. The Stars will be idle for two weeks and host First Lutheran on Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
Record: Ventura County Christian 2-1, 1-0 Omega League.

Royal grabs third
At Pepperdine Invitational, 3 miles
Highlights: Royal — Alex Routh was third in the sweepstakes race with a time of 16 minutes, 14 seconds to help Royal finish third. Travis Edwards (16:34) was 16th. Thousand Oaks — Sean Gildea (16:08) was sixth. Asher Lober (16:49) placed 27th. Calabasas — Clayton Graham (16:54) took 31st.
Simi Valley places second
At Bell-Jeff Invitational, 3 miles
Highlights: Simi Valley — Steven Semler was the individual champion in 14:46 as Simi Valley placed second in Division 2/3. Michael Semler (15:40) was ninth and Adam Zoller (16:03) was 18th. Moorpark — Christopher Coleman was third in 14:52. Moorpark placed 12th.
Barnes places second
At Blue Lagoon Invitational, UC Santa Barbara, Friday, 3 miles
Highlights: Ventura — Michael Barnes was the runner-up with a time of 15:41. Jon Hooke (16:22) was ninth. Ventura had five runners in the top 20. Nordhoff — Joseph Finley (16:07) was sixth. Nordhoff had four of the top-20 runners. Fillmore — Eddie Enriquez (17:38) finished 33rd.
GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY
Sullivan leads T.O.
At Pepperdine Invitational, 3 miles
Highlights: Thousand Oaks — Kaitlyn Sullivan was 26th in 20:15. Allie Lopez was 40th in 20:45. La Reina — Sarah Pearson was the runner-up in the small schools Division I race. Tara Blanchard and McKenzie O'Malley were sixth and 12th, respectively. Because of rain at the site, no individual times were recorded.
Miller leads simi Valley
At Bell-Jeff Invitational, 3 miles
Highlights: Simi Valley — Liberty Miller won the Division 2/3 race with the fastest girls' time of the day, winning with a 17:08. Simi Valley placed second. Brooke Popp (18:26) and Chanelle Nicholas (18:59) were fifth and 10th. Moorpark — Madelyn Stoltze was eighth in 18:44. Stacey Fujikuni (18:52) and Heather Wicks (19:04) were ninth and 12th. Moorpark finished 12th.
Hasbrouck wins title
At Blue Lagoon Invitational, UC Santa Barbara, Friday, 3 miles
Highlights: Nordhoff — Catherine Hasbrouck was the individual champion in 18:24. Ventura — Meghan Malloy (19:24) was third. Angelica Hernandez (19:49) and Sally Venable (19:53) were sixth and seventh. Fillmore — Paulina Mercado (20:32) and Andrea Barrera (20:43) were ninth and 10th.

At Buena Tournament
Highlights: Pacifica — Michael Crowley and Nate Nix had three goals against Buena. Jacob Harrelson scored six goals, while Crowley and Nix had four. Crowley made the all-tournament team. Pacifica finished third. Buena — Daniel Oliver had four goals. Kevin Condron and Jimmy Ewald scored three times.
Record: Pacifica 5-5.
ARROYO GRANDE 17, BUENA 10
At Buena Tournament
Highlights: Buena — In the championship game, Kevin Condron scored four goals and Daniel Olivier had three. Both players made the all-tournament team. The final rankings from top to bottom went as follows: Arroyo Grande win the championship followed by Buena, Pacifica, San Luis Obispo, Cabrillo and Hueneme.
Record: Buena 9-3.
NORDHOFF 9, CARPINTERIA 5;

At Malibu Tournament
Highlights: Nordhoff — Matt Hartmann scored three goals and Chandler Thomas added two goals in the win over Carpinteria. In the fifth-place game loss to Agoura B, Hartmann scored three goals.

At Malibu Tournament
Highlights: Oxnard — A.J. Malbas, Tim Hardison and Jake Barber each scored a goal in the Santa Barbara game. Kyle Eckhart had three goals and Chris Harlin had two goals in the Notre Dame game.
Record: Oxnard 4-7.

At Malibu Tournament
Highlights: Malibu — Against Santa Barbara B, Jake Philbrick and Sean Merrick combined for five goals. In the championship game against Notre Dame, Merrick scored five goals in the rout.
Record: Malibu 10-2.
VENTURA PLACES FIFTH
At Coronado Tournament
Highlights: Ventura — The Cougars defeated Newberg Academy of Oregon 9-7 for fifth place. Brian Boswell scored four goals and Hayden Adler two. Boswell and Adler made the all-tournament team. Ventura defeated Murrieta Valley, the top-ranked Division V team, 9-6. Boswell scored four goals. Adler had three goals and Devin Mefford added two. Lance Park made eight saves. Coronado defeated Ventura in the opening game 1. Chris Miller, Boswell and Richard Taylor scored goals.
Record: Ventura 10-2.
