Former area resident named editor of journal

A former Camarillo resident has been named editor for an online academic journal that explores links among technology, teaching and learning.

Rochelle Tractenberg is editor of science and technology for Academic Intersections, which had its debut edition this month. The magazine is sponsored by Apple Inc.

Tractenberg is an assistant professor of neurology at Georgetown University Medical Center.

"Technology is changing how education happens for all students, and this journal will provide a mechanism for these changes to trickle up to graduate, post-graduate and professional students, as well as undergraduates," said Tractenberg, who was honored as a Distinguished Educator by Apple in 2004.

Tractenberg graduated from Camarillo High School in 1986 and from UC Santa Barbara in 1991.

The Web site for the magazine is edcommunity.apple.com/ali/collection.php?collection=776.
