Dead blue whale floating off coast
Another dead blue whale is expected to wash onto Ventura County's beaches at some point Friday after it was spotted floating in the Santa Barbara Channel today.
The 60 to 70-foot whale seems to have died recently, as its skin is still relatively intact, said Easter Moorman, a spokeswoman with the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
This will be the third blue whale that has washed onto Southern California beaches in the last nine days, causing some to begin to wonder if this is out of the ordinary.
"It causing the [Marine Mammal Stranding] Network to ask questions, is there an unusual event here?" Moorman said.

How sad. Surely a result of what we have done to this earth. God bless all the fishies in the sea and everybody!!

how is a ship hitting whale have anything to do with what people are doing to the earth? granted, if you go back a thousand years, there may not have been any ships around...
pretty sad to hear about another one dying though. they are already a dying breed.

Everything, everyone eventually dies. It's the circle of life.
Still sad though...but kind of cool that the final resting place is Ventura County.
RIP Blue Whale...

How about the Navy submarine manuvers offshore (now)blasting giant underwater sonic waves? I know they said the last one did not die from that, however, where the U.S government or military is involved, who would believe anyhting they say, or force (threaten) a bioligist to say...three in the last nine days and there has not been three in the last ten years...come-on

Right-on wideopenweb! The bioligists say if their inner-ear bones are intact than it is not from the sonic blasts. Read this then reply:

Wouldn't it effect the dolphins also?

Sonic blasts would not just effect Blue's. It is probably a plankton bloom that is very toxic to mamals. Blues are giant filter feeders, so they eat a whole ton of it. Lets wait before we just blame something that is not natural. Last couple of years the sealions really took a beating from the same thing.

Wait for what horsespinner? 'Til there are NO Blue Whales left? The courts have ruled in favor of this Navy weapon to be used off our shores. I am confident that this is what I believe it is, until someone truly reputable disputes it. And, that wouldn't be anyone from the government...

Think the Star will invest the money to look into whether the Navy is involved? hahahahhahaa.

Christ. What are we doing? The links above show that the Navy has technology that could harm sealife. The only question is do they test it. They've been blowing up sealife in the South Pacific for decades in the name of the idiotic Missile Defense System. It hits anything but missiles. Why wouldn't they test their weapon underwater? They have no morals. Isn't it strange how many Naval bases are around where the whales are dying? No, I'm sure there is no connection.
Finally, when is the last time a torpedo or a mine blew up a submarine? I don't remember reading about it recently.

Is there a chance that the whale was just old?

WELL I JUST READ ABOUT THE NAVY RESTRICTING ACCESS TO POINT MAGU AS THEY ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF STEPPED UP EXERCISES RIGHT NOW. LIKE I POSTED IN THAT BLOG THIS IS WAY TO MUCH OF A COINKIDINK FOR ME. I THINK THE MARINE LIFE PEOPLE NEED TO INVESTIGATE. THE NAVY SURELY WON'T DO ANYTHING BUT DENY. FIRST SAN DIEGO NOW HERE...IT NEEDS TO STOP NOW UNTIL THEY CAN PROVE ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER!!!!!
