Found skull belongs to Native American
A partial human skull discovered at a Ventura County farm on Monday has been found to be that of an Indian.
The finding was made by a forensic anthropologist, James Baroni, chief deputy medical examiner for Ventura County, said Wednesday.
Investigators suspected all along the skull belonged to an Indian because its teeth were ground in a fashion characteristic of Indians.
The skull will go to the Native American Heritage Commission, Baroni said. Baroni said it will be given to its most likely descendent.
The skull was found early in the morning in a compost pile at Conroy's Farm, located at the intersection of Santa Clara Avenue and Central Avenue near Nyeland Acres.
