Tirico to take Patrick's spot

More from SportsMike Tirico will take over the ESPN Radio slot previously held by Dan Patrick, the network announced Monday.
The television play-by-play announcer for "Monday Night Football" on ESPN and the NBA on ESPN and ABC starts his new program Thursday on KSPN (710 AM).
Tirico will be on from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a one-hour show hosted by Stephen A. Smith. Patrick's show ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Smith is a commentator for ESPN and hosts a daily radio show in New York.
"Needless to say, I'm a sports fan and I enjoy being a part of the sports dialog every day with a lot of the contacts around the country and the different leagues I've covered," Tirico told reporters in a conference call. "To be able to bring that out to the public and do it on the radio is going to be a day-to-day thrill for me."
Because of Tirico's travel schedule, the show will often originate from cities where he is broadcasting events.
Tirico was one of ESPN Radio's original hosts when the network was launched in 1992.
