Bomb scare locks down Ventura school

More from Other NewsBalboa Middle School in Ventura was locked down this morning as authorities dealt with a suspicious package that turned out to be a hoax.
A school employee found a box with some wires coming out of it in the cafeteria, prompting officials to close the campus on South Hill Road about 9 a.m., Ventura police Lt. Ray Vance said.
A Sheriff's Department bomb squad used a water cannon to blow up the box and view its contents.
"It was not a bomb," Vance said. " It appeared to be a hoax."
The incident ended about 11:30 a.m., Vance said.
Police were looking this morning for the person responsible for the box.
"We take this pretty serious, even if whoever did it thinks of it as a joke," Vance said. "In today's environment on school campuses, you cannot tolerate it."

Was it really a hoax? Like somebody made a device to intentionally look like a bomb and are snickering in the corner now that he/she got the reaction they wanted.
Or was it a box with some wires in it which just required an abundance of caution?

that's 2 schools, in 2 different cities, on the same day. what's up with this? the news this morning said that "insurgents were upping their terrorist actions because of this holy time of Ramadan" (which made no sense to me why you'd want to sully a holy time of year with violence...) So, are these "pranks" co-incidence or planned specifically with what the news mentioned? whatever the reason, it makes me mad!

This holy time of year are for the Jewish people and their holy holiday. Reminder, the terrorist are Muslim and hate the Jews! They dislike them as much as they dislike the Americans. That's why they are called terrorist.
