Human skull found on county farm

More from Other NewsA partial human skull was found this morning at a farm between Camarillo and Oxnard, authorities said.
The bone fragment, which includes an eye socket and nose area, was found about 7 a.m. in a compost pile at Conroy's Farm, located at the intersection of Santa Clara Avenue and Central Avenue near Nyeland Acres, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
The partial skull was retrieved by Chief Deputy Ventura County Medical Examiner James Baroni, who said medical examiners were working Monday to determine whether the bone fragment is modern or ancient.
If the skull turns out to be Native American, the Ventura County Medical Examiners Office will turn the case over to the Native American Heritage Counsel.
If it is modern, medical examiners will attempt to determine the cause of death and the Sheriff's Department will take up the investigation.
