One injured in weekend paraglider crash
An Ojai man was injured this weekend when he crash landed a paraglider at a Fillmore School.
Michael Preston, 55, flew a paraglider off of Chief's Peak north of Ojai and crashed at Fillmore Middle School at 543 A St. about 2:15 p.m. Saturday, said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
Preston was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital.
He had been released by Monday, hospital officials said.
Paragliding is a sport in which people fly suspended under parachute-like wings, sometimes over long distances. Unlike parasails, which are towed behind boats, some paragliders are powered by small motors worn by pilot.
