Injured Ventura player returns to class
Ventura College football player Larry Cooper, who was taken off the field on a gurney after being injured during last Saturday night's game against Pierce College, was back in classes on today.
According to head coach Jon Mack, a CAT Scan performed on Cooper revealed no breaks in his spine and it appears Cooper may have suffered nothing more than a sprain.
The 24-year-old defensive lineman fell limp to the turf after Pierce running back Ed Gomez was tackled.
Ventura athletic trainer Mark Chaney and members of both coaching staffs worked on Cooper until paramedics arrived in an ambulance and took him to Community Memorial Hospital.
Mack said they are waiting to see how Cooper recovers and he will not return to action until he is cleared by medical personnel.
