Project Playhouse to be featured on 'CBS The Early Show' Monday

Los Angeles — Project Playhouse, HomeAid's signature fundraising event, will receive feature billing Monday when "CBS The Early Show" airs a segment on "American Girl Nicki's Colorado Ranch House." Viewers are advised to tune in by 8 a.m. to catch the segment.

Built by Pardee Homes in association with American Girl, "Nicki's Colorado Ranch House" aims to raise funds for and awareness of the transitionally homeless. The playhouse featured on CBS is a donation to HELP USA, and will move from the morning show to WestHelp Greenburgh in White Plains, NY, a transitional homeless facility operated by HELP USA. Visit www.helpusa.org.

The HELP USA playhouse replicates one that is part of a small neighborhood of charming playhouses at The Lakes shopping center in Thousand Oaks created for HomeAid's fundraiser; HomeAid is a nonprofit organization dedicated to quality housing for the transitionally homeless. The intricately crafted, kid-sized dream houses are on display here through the Oct. 20 Project Playhouse auction party that determines their lucky owners. Landscape Development Inc. is donating its resources to provide a quaint backdrop for the playhouse village.

Pardee Homes and American Girl will host American Girl Day on Sept. 30 at the Project Playhouse village, with special activities to be announced. The Lakes invites public tours of all of the playhouses each weekend from noon to 6 p.m. through the auction party date, Oct. 20. Donations of $2 per person are requested for the tours. All funds raised will help HomeAid's programs for the temporarily homeless in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, a population estimated to be some 95,000 at any given time.
