Rabbit incident is no crime, police decide
Moorpark police have determined no crime was committed by a man who approached two young girls with a rabbit last weekend, telling them he was looking for its owner.
The girls, ages 9 and 10, told police the man asked them to get into his car Saturday so he could take them to his home and show them the rabbit. The girls refused, police said.
Police said they later contacted the man, who told them he had spoken to several people about the rabbit he found, including the two girls.
The man, however, said he did not ask the girls to get in his car, telling them instead that if they knew the rabbit's owners, they could come to his home to pick up the animal, according to police.
Investigators learned the man has lived in the area with his family for more than 18 months, and they verified the existence of the rabbit.

I'm glad this man came forward. Glad it wasn't an attempted abduction. But I can understand the misunderstanding of the girls. ALl the crime in the world and we as parents tell them not to talk to strangers.....and never get into a car.
