Taylor making charge: Ventura's Greg Taylor returns to Ventura Raceway to resume his quest for the sprint car season championship.

Taylor is a win away from No. 40 in his sprint car career and is the points leader.

Taylor and Kevin Kierce have quite a rivalry going this season at the Ventura County Fairgrounds oval. Kierce is No. 2 in points.

Troy Rutherford won the Ventura Racing Association sprint car feature two weeks ago.

The dwarf car regionals and the IMCA modifieds will highlight the show. Mini dwarf cars and junior midgets will be part of the kids racing.

Robert Claborn captured the IMCA modified on Aug. 25. There were 26 modifieds, the largest number for a non-fair race. Next week's race will crown the Ventura track champion for the IMCA division. Ed Niedzwiecki was the senior dwarf car winner and Brian Saxton was the pro dwarf car feature winner. More than 40 dwarf cars will be on hand from the Western Region.

Gates open at 3 p.m. and kids' racing starts at 3:30 and the other divisions start at 5:30 p.m. Pit gates open at 11 a.m.
