THOUSAND OAKS

Talk set on EDD and how it affects bosses

Deborah Bronow, deputy director of California's Unemployment Insurance branch, will discuss "What's Happening at the Employment Development Department and How It Affects Employers" from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Palm Garden Hotel, 495 N. Ventu Park Road, Thousand Oaks.

As EDD's legislative deputy director in the late 1980s, Bronow testified at state and federal hearings regarding legislation that affected California's job seekers, wage earners and employers. Some of the topics Bronow will discuss include recent legislation, EDD automation projects, fraudulent claims, administrative determinations and appeal hearings.

Cost is $25 for East Ventura County Employer Advisory Council members, or $35 for nonmembers if received by Sept. 14. Walk-in registration is $30 for members, $40 for nonmembers. For information, call 382-8618.

Racquet Club marks 30th anniversary

The Pierpont Racquet Club will celebrate its 30th year in business with an open house that includes free use of the facility from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at 500 Sanjon Road, Ventura.

The club was established in 1977 by fourth-generation Venturans Scott and Spencer Garrett adjacent to the Pierpont Inn.

Learning Through Movement' is topic

"Learning Through Movement" will be the topic of a free forum presented by the Wholistic Practitioners Network and Community Resource Directory at 7 p.m. Monday in the Topping Room at E.P. Foster Library, 651 E. Main St, Ventura.

A networking session starts at 6:15 p.m.

Annual auto show scheduled Oct. 7

The Westlake Village Auto Show will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 7 at Countrywide Financial Corp., 31303 Agoura Road, Westlake Village.

Presented by the Thousand Oaks-Westlake Village Regional Chamber of Commerce, the 22nd annual event will feature an awards presentation at 2:30 p.m.

Registration fee to enter a car is $25. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.westlakevillageautoshow.com. Participants may also register from 7 to 9:30 a.m. the day of the event. Admission is free.

Sexual harassment prevention discussed

Nordman Cormany Hair & Compton LLP will hold sexual harassment prevention training seminars from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13 and 19 in the firm's board room on the sixth floor of 1000 Town Center Drive, Oxnard.
