The four candidates on the November ballot for Westlake Village City Council have agreed to take part in a debate next month, organizers said.
The event is planned for 7 p.m. Oct. 11, said Neil Ticktin, founder of the nonpartisan civic Web site Westlake Revelations, which is presenting the debate in cooperation with the Oak Forest Homeowners Association.
Two of the five-member council will be chosen by city voters in the Nov. 6 election. The candidates are incumbent Philippa Klessig and challengers Theodore Corwin, a physician; Ned Davis, an executive; and Carol Kirschbaum, a retired risk manager.
Incumbent Jim Bruno, whose term is expiring, decided not seek re-election. As a result, at least one new member will be on the council after the election.
The purpose of the debate is to "give the candidates a forum to tell what they think so people can make an educated decision about who they want to vote for," Tickin said.
The gathering will be at the Oak Forest Estates clubhouse on Triunfo Canyon Road east of Lindero Canyon Road in Westlake Village.
Candidates will be given a specified length of time to speak, followed by a question-and-answer session.
The public can submit questions for the candidates through the end of the month to the Web site www.westlakerevelations.com.
Candidates will also field questions from the audience.
