TENNIS

Extreme doubles event at Ojai

Tennis fans are invited to a free Extreme Doubles Exhibition at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club on Friday, Sept. 14.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., youth players kick off with a showcase on center court, followed by a high-level round of pros and youth. The Extreme Exhibition will cap the evening with local players and commentary by local tennis pro Jim Kasser.

The event, sponsored by the Ojai Valley Youth Foundation, is a build-up to the eighth annual Ojai Tennis Marathon, hosted by Stacy Margolin Potter. The marathon is a fundraiser in which players of all abilities play 50 games of tennis in a morning. It takes place at the Ojai Valley Athletic Club and Libbey Park on Sunday, Oct. 14, and this year it will honor longtime youth supporter Glenn Fout.

Spectators who are not registered in the marathon are welcome, and do not need to be members of the Ojai Valley Athletic Club. The OVAC snack bar will be open.

The Ojai Valley Athletic Club is located at 409 South Fox Street in Ojai. For information on these events, call Traci David at 646-3970 or visit www.ovyf.org.
