Fake 'pipe bomb' found in Ventura store
Ventura County Sheriff's Bomb Squad disposed of what appeared to be a pipe bomb that was found early this morning inside a gas station convenient store.
Ventura Police received a call around 6:50 a.m. about a bomb found inside the bathroom of an AM/PM store on the 2100 block of East Harbor Boulevard, Sgt. Jack Richards said.
The Sheriff's Bomb Squad was called to the scene and disposed of it in front of the store by shooting high pressure water onto the contraption. Although it was made to look like a pipe bomb, it was not actually a bomb, officials said.
No suspects were arrested and no one was injured, Richards said.
Ventura Police detectives will continue the investigation, Richards said.
As a precaution, police shut down the southbound Highway 101 onramp at the intersection of Monmouth Way and Harbor Boulevard. Traffic was redirected onto the Seaward onramp.
