Angels call up pitchers Bulger, Thompson
The Angels recalled Triple-A pitchers Jason Bulger and Rich Thompson on Saturday, and put Chris Resop onto the 60-day disabled list to make room on the day rosters expanded to 40 players.
Bulger, 28-year-old right-hander, was 0-0 in two games with the Angels last season.
Thompson, a 23-year-old right-hander, had a 3-3 record with two minor league teams.
Martinez starts for Mets Monday: New York Mets pitcher Pedro Martinez, recovering from rotator cuff surgery, will make his first start of the season on Monday at Cincinnati.
Martinez said he will be limited to 75 pitches and no more than 35 pitches in one inning.
Oakland signs Melhuse for final month: The Oakland Athletics re-signed free-agent catcher Adam Melhuse, bringing back their former backup catcher for the season's final month.
