Local roundup: Lewinski shoots 66 to lead at county championships
Nine championship flight golfers shot under par Saturday in the first round of the 60th Ventura County Golf Championships at Buenaventura Golf Course.
David Lewinski led the way with a 4-under 66.
Jason Pridmore and Rodolfo Estrada are tied for second with 67s.
Grouped with 68s are Brycen Wagner, Cameron Tennant, Ben Carter, Burman DeShautelle, Michael Flynn and Wayne Merich.
John Cisek, John Gilles and Michael Casca are tied for 10th with 70s.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament will be played today at Los Robles for championship flight golfers. All other flights will play at Olivas Links.
Thomas Hazard grabbed the first-round lead in the A Flight. Hazard's round of 70 at Los Robles gave him a net 65 for a one shot margin over four golfers.
Other flight leaders are: Steve Haynes and Mike Milligan, B, net 63s; Chris McCully, C, 60; and Al Reagan, D, 63.
The tournament drew 121 entries.

Game scores Buena Vista won 30-28, 30-28, 30-24.
Highlights: Cal Lutheran — Summer Plante-Newman had 10 kills and 14 digs. Kelsey Griffin added 11 kills. Lindsey Benson had 42 assists. Buena Vista — Kelli Luitjens had 15 kills. Molly Reuter had 37 assists and 14 digs.
Records: Buena Vista 1-1, Cal Lutheran 0-1.
