Ventura man severely beaten, found unconscious

A Ventura man was assaulted Saturday afternoon in the 200 block of South Palm Street in Ventura, according to police.

Police responded to a call at 1:20 p.m. that someone had been beaten. When officers arrived, they found David Walters, 43, unconscious and bleeding from a head wound.

Walters was taken to Ventura County Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition Saturday evening, according to police.

Police asked anyone with information about the assault to call Detective Brittle at 339-4463.

What is this city coming to? I have $20 that says he was a transient and this was alcohol/drug related.

when it's oxnard, santa paula or hueneme, they blame the town folk and look down their noses. it's sad, but it's a big part of the underbelly of ventura. i hope the guy makes it.

WEll I assume he had a cell phone. It never said he went to a pay phone and called. So dont be so fast to guess!

I'm amazed...Nobody blaming Oxnard?
Ventura has its own home-grown punks and thugs. I wouldn't be at all surprized if it turned out that the perps were Ventura gang members, or Ventura drug addicts.
