Westlake High Offers Comedy "All In The Timing"

The Westlake High School Theater Department's fall production will be "All in the Timing", which is a collection of short, comedic, one-act plays by David Ives. The collection includes "Sure Thing", "Seven Menus", "The Philadelphia", "A Singular Kinda Guy", "The Universal Language", "English Made Simple", "Phillip Glass Buys A Loaf Of Bread", "Preface", and "Foreplay, or The Art of the Fugue". The dates of the performances begin with opening night on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 7pm in the WHS theater. Followed by Friday November 9 at 7pm, Saturday Nov. 10 Matinee (understudy performance) at 2pm followed by a regular cast performance Nov. 10 at 7pm. The second week of performances will begin on Thursday Nov. 15 at 7pm and again on Friday Nov. 16 at 7pm, a Nov. 17 Saturday Matinee (understudy performance) at 2pm, and closing night Nov. 17 at 7pm. This year is director, Catherine Conti's fifth year at Westlake High School where she has directed seven plays. The cast this production is a whopping thirty-one high school students, equipped with understudies and stage-hands. The cast rages from a blend of freshmen to seniors, from young actors performing their first plays ever to others who have been performing at WHS and with other theaters for years. Catherine Conti has combined this collection by David Ives and set them all in the same crazy diner. This diner, as written by David Ives, is an enchanting and perplexing place. David Ives' plays are intelligent and hilarious as he plays with the English language while touching your heart and challenging your mind. He is a unique and original playwright who has a magical way of blending side-splitting comedy with paradoxical concepts that question reality.
