The arraignment for a 19-year-old man accused of stabbing three people last week, including an 8-year-old girl and her mother, was postponed until Nov. 13.
Kyle Rubin of Newbury Park is being held in Ventura County Jail without bail. He made his first court appearance Monday before Ventura County Superior Court Judge Kevin McGee.
Attorney Joe Villasana, who is with the Public Defender's Office, said that his office was assigned the case but that it hasn't yet been determined which attorney will represent Rubin.
Prosecutor Rebecca Day said Rubin is being charged with three counts of attempted murder and using a knife in the commission of the crime.
He also is charged with three counts of burglary, she said.
Day said there is no bail in this case because of the seriousness of the charges. The Ventura County Sheriff's Department believes Rubin would pose a danger to the community if he posted bail.
Rubin has no current residence and is likely to flee, Day said.
The girl was sleeping in bed at her home on the 300 block of Danville Avenue in Thousand Oaks about 4 a.m. Thursday when she was stabbed in the neck by an intruder. Her wound was described as serious.
Police said Rubin entered the house through an unlocked door, stabbed the girl, then attacked her mother when she intervened. The mother suffered a minor cut to her neck and was treated at a local hospital Thursday.
The father of the family detained Rubin at the home until police arrived.
Rubin also is suspected of stabbing a man in the back about 3 a.m. at the home of a family friend on the 400 block of Blackhawk Drive in Thousand Oaks. The man suffered a minor cut.
Rubin told police he had used methamphetamine and acid before the attacks, police said.

They should deport all scum like this back to the country their ancestors came from. We would never have these issues if they never migrated here in the first place. If he was a real man he would only stab people he had beef with. Now he has hurt and inocent child.

Having a relative who was a former meth user.. I know meth can cause even the sanest person to become insane and in some cases do some of the most insane crimes. Does this excuse their behavior? In my opinion NEVER. But this does sometimes explain the reasons some disturbed people become even more insane when taking these kind of drugs.
In my opinion this man needs to be locked up and cleaned up. Helped to be clean. Helped to have counseling to work on his underlying issues. So that when he is released.. because they always are.. he does not step back into his old shoes and behaviors again.

Basically all of you need to get off your computers and stop worrying about others. kyle did what he did weather you know him or not hes gonna get what he gets.
so stop acting like you all know whats up and do something with yourselves instead of talking crap to a guy in jail behind your computer screen.
he knows what it did so let it be.
jesus the 805 has no lives.

Maris2step - if the 805 has no lives, does that mean you don't either? Why are you on your computer commenting then? This was a horrible crime that upsets people. I think he deserves a little crap for what he put his victims through don't you?

maris2step...how can you defend him??? I have a daughter close to the same age and I can assure you...this guy would be DEAD if he entered our home. My husband would have beat the living crap out of him before the police arrived. This father showed great restraint.
I don't care if he was on meth, he chose to do the drug, anything that comes along with it whether it is mind altering or death...he made his choice and these are his consequences.
Oh and trust me, I have a life...and I keep up with the local stories online here to see what freaks are roaming our streets. Thankfully we have one less!! May this guy rot in h*ll!!

Hotwildflower - my thoughts exactly. This guy is sick, whether he started out that way or his drug use made him that way, I could care less. I just think people like him don't need to be around innocent people, let alone children. Hopefully he will get what is coming to him in prison. We don't want him in our society, everyone knows the chances of him being "rehabilitated" are very slim.

Most of us comment about most the going on's in the 805 ! So maybe you should not get behind your comp.screen and read it.........
NO one can defend this guy!!!!!!!!!!!! NO ONE !!!!!!
hotwildflowerMy thought exactly!!!!

People, this happened because this guy was on drugs! DRUGS ruin lives. Not just his, but he has a family, and this little girl and her family! Meth is one of the fastest growing drug addiction in this county. Maybe this guy will clean up and dry up in jail.
Communities need to take a look at the meth use in their communities.
What's going on in the 805 is that our young people are being lured in my meth addicts and destroyed. It should be our business to keep kids from getting into it in the first place.

He chose to use drugs. That's his decision. He chose to commit a crime and hurt people.
He is a sick person...he belongs in jail.
Maris2step- I would rather write comments on line as opposed to writing a criminal in jail.

maris2step,
You should heed your own advice and "do something with yoursel[f]." You could start with remedial education to address your illiteracy. You could also benefit from courses in compassion; your callous comments about a crime that victimized an 8 year old kid are despicable and demonstrative of your status as subhuman gristle. If my kid was victimized in this manner and you spoke that way in front of me, you'd have a lack of teeth to match your lack of brain.

I note that Mr. Rubin looks a bit beat up. I'm not sure whether law enforcement or the father of the girl provided the beating to Mr. Rubin, but I'm happy he got one. This creep deserves the maximum punishment allowed by law. Fortunately, Ventura County Courts are known for their tough approach to crime, relative to other courts in this state. I am very confident that our judges will give this trash the sentence he deserves.

My brother was a heavy meth user and is now been sober for almost a year now after getting out of juvenile hall..Meth can do a lot of damage, and I know how crazy people can get.My brother became extremely violent and out of control-he would stop at nothing to get what he wanted when he wanted it, even if it meant hurting his own family.I grew up with Kyle Rubin and he was one of the nicest kids, unfortunately after we graduated highschool things went down hill-especially since he had no support from his family.NOTHING excuses his behavior, and my heart goes out to the victims and their families. It's just sad to see that Kyle was doing so well and it ended up not being enough and people got extremely hurt in the process. It seems as though everyone I grew up with and was friends with in Newbury Park has been plagued by some addiction to drugs.I hope the young girl, her family and the other gentleman are doing ok and will recover fully.

First, I'd like to say that my condolences go out to those who were attacked, as well as Kyle's family.
Secondly, I'd like to make it clear that I agree 200% that what he did was wrong, horrible and sad. And he deserves whatever sentence is given to him.
However, quite frankly, I am very disturbed by half of your comments, and almost embarrassed to have your voices represent the community I live in. "He'd be dead by the time the cops got there", "Put him in general population". Wishing that on someone is just wrong. He had no idea what was going on, and if he was your child, friend, or peer, you would reconsider your words.
And taking time to look up his MySpace...? Who's the creepy one? And on top of that, trying to base your decisions on him through that? Come on now people. Grow up and please, get a life.
This is so unfortunate, but shouldn't we learn from it rather than sit here and talk sh*t about how "if that happened in my house...".
Kyle IS a great kid with a TERRIBLE drug problem.
These drugs are easily accessible in both TO and NP, maybe you should direct your energy making sure that your kid isn't going down the same path.

I agree with you Marie805. Knowing Kyle, I would never wish any harm to him and I hope this situation makes people more aware of the drug problems that a lot of kids face growing up in our community these days. Most everyone I know has a drug problem...whether you can see it or not is a different story.
