Community Leaders Association presents award
California Lutheran University's Community Leaders Association presented its service award to a Westlake Village woman who has provided the organization with leadership and support for 10 years.
During the CLA Auction on Oct. 27, Deborah Hang was named the recipient of the William E. Hamm Outstanding Service Award, which is given to members who have shown exemplary service.
Hang has served terms as CLA's president and treasurer and she chaired the Mathews Leadership Forum for two years. She has served on many CLA committees, sponsored the organization's auctions and golf tournaments, and opened up her home for several events. She is also a strong supporter of CLU's Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival.
The William E. Hamm Award is named in honor of a former CLU vice president who contributed to the development of the university and the betterment of the Conejo Valley community.
Founded in 1963, the CLA was developed to stimulate the community's interest in CLU athletic and cultural programs. The group sponsors social and academic activities and raises money through an annual auction and golf tournament. Since its founding, the organization has provided more than $1.5 million to enhance academic programs and facilities at the university.
