SWAT team helps serve search warrant in Simi Valley
The Simi Valley SWAT team responded to the corner of Cochran Steet and Cordero Avenue this morning to support narcotics detectives as they served a search warrant on the 2300 block of Cordero, authorities said.
Officers did not have to use any force during their search and no one was injured, said Lt. Paul Fitzpatrick of the Simi Valley Police Department.

Why was the SWAT pulled in at all for something like that?
Did they get a tip that they might have weapons?

That explains things, I thought I was seeing things when I drove past and saw a tank out of the corner of my eye on that corner.

It's a felony narcotics warrant. Very typical to have SWAT or HRT called in for something like that because of the high risk potential of the operation.

It looked like a black, shiny, tank. It was surreal seeing it in a residential area.
Someone also told me they saw the "tank" in the Simi Valley Parade.

Militarization of the police force. I can see them having M-16's but a tank! Maybe in LA but not Simi Valley?

“Maybe in LA but not Simi Valley” give me a break, why is Simi Valley exempt from crime. I think they should have a few of them better yet why don’t we make all police cars tanks, now there is an idea. I say give the Police whatever they need to be safe when dealing with scum. And if you’re not a criminal you have nothing to worry about. But you people probably believe we should take everyone’s guns away too.

Why a tank in Simi Valley? hhhmmm Maybe cause it's a city infested with meth addicts and people on meth are very violent and unpredictable?
damn, I'm glad I live in Oxnard where it's safer these days. it seems Simi is getting worse than Oxnard.

> if you’re not a criminal you have
> nothing to worry about.
Do you say that because the police have never gone to the wrong address?
Or is it because there's never been a corrupt police officer?

SVPD has an ex-military V 150 personnel carrier, which is like a small tank without a gun.
Its purpose is just to protect the police. It's unable to shoot anything.

The "tank" is really an armored vehicle that was used by the British in Northern Ireland. It came complete with bullet holes and indications that it had been hit with Molotov c---tails.

Armored Personnel Carrier.
Am I the only one that watches Dallas SWAT and Detroit SWAT on A&E?

Simi Valley, Oxnard, Ventura, Moorpark, Fillmore etc....doesn't matter. Crime is everywhere. We live in Southern California and look at our population. I hope I am wrong but I don't see things getting better considering by 2030, we will have 200,000 more people.
But regardless of that argument, thank the Police for doing what they do.

littlepowers , I agree ! Good grief why call in swat???
Cops are trained to serve these felony warrants ! There are plenty of them to do so. Unless the guy refused to come out and it was a stand off situation I see no reason to call in swat. That is my opinion........

Just had a meth-addict break in someone's home and stab an 8-year old girl in the neck here in NP. Dangerous situations are more likely in drug cases and in domestic violence calls. Keep the police officers safe for the rest of us too, please! Let them use any means they have in their arsenal. They are not the good guys to those they are trying to arrest and the bad guys will try to kill them. If it were you that was the police officer, you'd want to prevent being killed, right?
