A talk with Jerry Clifford, adjunct Physics Professor at California State University Channel IslandsWhy is Mona Lisa's smile so elusive? Why are Renoir's portraits so compelling? Why are la Tour's paintings so colorless and Matisse's colors so weird? On Thursday, November 15, at 7:00 pm, Jerry Clifford, who teaches "The Science of Art" at California State University Channel Islands, will provide some insight. This special talk will be held at the Harbor Village Gallery in the Ventura Harbor Village.Clifford will discuss the nature of light and the basis and use of color in images. He will talk about visual perception and show how we form visual images. Through classical and current artwork, he will show how artists, usually through skilled observation, learned to manipulate light and color. The presentation will help artists understand, appreciate, and possible control, the design of their images.This special program will be of interest to artists as well as art lovers. Free for Buenaventura Art Association members, $5.00 for non-members.The Harbor Village Gallery is located at 1591 Spinnaker Dr , Suite 117C, (before the big lawn) Ventura, California, Phone: (805) 644 - 2750.
