Wendy Lefkowitz at the Discovery Annex

More from VenturaWendy Lefkowitz's "Kaleidoscope of Nature's Palette" will be at Buenaventura Art Association's newest exhibit space, The Discovery Annex from November 2 - December 5, 2007. The opening reception will be during The Harvest Artwalk on Saturday, November 3 from 3 - 7 pm.Realistic watercolors and abstracted collages might not seem to have much in common for one exhibit. Lefkowitz ties both themes together in "Kaleidoscope of Nature's Palette" with her rich, vibrant colors. The translucency of watercolor as well as Lefkowitz's skill with the medium reflects the layers of color in a flower, a leaf or a sunset. The shadows that her subjects cast are as rich in color as the subject themselves - only richer and deeper. The mixed-media collages, loosely based on outdoor scenes, are where Lefkowitz gets to play with her highly developed sense of color. The variety and hues of papers and other materials are inviting and mysterious at the same time.Lefkowitz received her BFA from Pratt Institute in New York. She is signature member of the Gold Coast Watercolor Society Her original works and limited edition prints are found in art collections throughout the country and have been accepted into many juried shows. Lefkowitz was a featured artist on HGTV's Designers' Challenge.The Discovery Annex is located at the Ventura Visitor's Bureau, 89 S. California St in downtown Ventura. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm; Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
