Man arrested for break-ins, stabbings

The Newbury Park teenager is suspected of breaking into three homes in the Thousand Oaks area and stabbing three people early this morning may have been strung out on stimulants and hallucinogenic drugs, authorities said.

Kyle Rubin, 19, was arrested shortly after 4 a.m. at a home on the 300 block of Danville Avenue on suspicion of burglary and attempted murder after he allegedly broke in, stabbed an 8-year-old girl who was in bed sleeping then attacked the child's mother with a knife when she intervened, said Det. Allen Devers of the Thousand Oaks Police Department.

The girl, who suffered a serious wound to her neck, was in surgery at Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center this morning, Devers said. Her wounds did not appear to be life threatening this morning.

The girl's mother also suffered injuries including a laceration to her neck.

Devers said Rubin attempted to flee the home after the girl's mother broke free of his grip, but the father of the family detained the teenage assailant.

Rubin was in the process of being booked into the Ventura County Jail this morning on suspicion of attempted murder and residential burglary.

Devers said Rubin is a suspect in two other break-ins and one other stabbing that occurred in the Thousand Oaks area this morning.

Rubin allegedly stabbed a sleeping man in the back after breaking into the home of family friends on the 400 block of Blackhawk Drive in Thousand Oaks about 3:30 a.m., Devers said. Information about the severity of the man's injury was not available this morning. Devers said Rubin left the house on Blackhawk drive immediately after the attack. At some point in the early morning, he allegedly broke into the garage of another home on the street.

Devers said the investigation into the crimes is ongoing, but police believe drugs played a role in the attacks.

""We have reason to believe that he had been using methamphetamine and acid," he said.

Rubin's court record shows one alcohol-related misdemeanor conviction, according to the Ventura County Superior Court Web site.

Devers, a 21-year veteran of the Thousand Oaks Police Department, called the attacks "very shocking."

"It's something that we don't experience in this county very often," he said.

Sounds like drugs to me.....who just goes around trying to kill people at 3:30am? Especially in TO? Wonder what the motive was....weird.

Blackhawk Dr and Danville Ave are both in Newbury Park not Thousand Oaks. Please make note that Newbury Park is a town of its own name and not to be known as Thousand Oaks. I do hope the young girl will be okay and the criminal pays for his bad deeds.

If that scumbag had done that in my house he would have been dead or severely permantly damaged before the police arrived.

18 is only technically a "teenage assailant" - he is an adult - and completely responsible for his actions. And yeah, I also would have Al Bundy'd that scumbag straight through the wall.

OMG, I can't believe that happened there. That is right over by Cypress Elementary. It is so quiet and safe that you would never in a million years picture something like this happening. It's such a small community too, that everyone is going to know the person who did it. How frightening, especially for the little girl.

Why would anyone want to mix meth with acid? Sounds like a recipe for trouble! To someone in this condition, the people whom he stabbed may not even have been human in his messed up mind. Still not an excuse. I hope he gets what's coming!

"The US Mexican border must be closed and these problems will gradually disappear."

Um, Kyle Rubin is white.

But ultimately his race doesn't matter. What matters is that he's a vile, disgusting waste of sperm and eggs who TRIED TO MURDER AN 8 YEAR OLD GIRL. Unfortunately, you'll find that type of human trash in all races, and on both sides of the border.

Posted by Ambz on October 25, 2007 at 8:24 p.m. (Suggest removal)

what kind of a sick human being thinks that this is ok?!?? I don't care what race you are or he is or she is. SHE IS AN 8 Y/O GIRL!! she had no defense, grrrrrr this just makes me so angry!!! SICK SICK SICK. I say eye for an eye, he stabbed her in the neck, let him feel it!!

He's going to be someone's girlfriend in prison...so that should be enough justice. The Mexican gangs don't like baby killers or chesters...Good luck Mr. Skinhead.

It really has come to self (family) defense. I got rid of my guns when my first kid was born ( it was the thing to do, I guess) I got a shotgun a year ago when Santa Paula police took 15 minutes to show up when it was a dire situation. You do have to shoot smart, Identify, verify, vaporize. I would guess gun sales may be up tommorow. Training will (should) come with the sale.

RelaxePeople:
The Myspace link provided states that he lives all over "expletive"/SFV. Think it's the wrong guy.

Sunnbear:
Why would he mix meth with acid? For the same reason they make acid tabs laced with speed. Because it keeps you going when you're trippin. They started doing it back in the 80's and it seems to be the way it has stayed.

While this is certainly no excuse for this animal's behavior; truth be told, he probably had no clue that he was attacking an 8 year old or any other person for that matter.

He was in his own world and if you've ever experienced LSD, things aren't always what they appear to be. I'm not talking about the 60's version, but the new version.

Never the less, he needs to be locked up for a good long time and he should be thanking his lucky stars that he didn't end up in my home!

First, I'd like to say that my condolences go out to those who were attacked, as well as Kyle's family.

Secondly, I'd like to make it clear that I agree 200% that what he did was wrong, horrible and sad. And he deserves whatever sentence is given to him.

However, quite frankly, I am very disturbed by half of your comments, and almost embarrassed to have your voices represent the community I live in. "He'd be dead by the time the cops got there", "Put him in general population". Wishing that on someone is just wrong. He had no idea what was going on, and if he was your child, friend, or peer, you would reconsider your words.

And taking time to look up his MySpace...? Who's the creepy one? And on top of that, trying to base your decisions on him through that? Come on now people. Grow up and please, get a life.

This is so unfortunate, but shouldn't we learn from it rather than sit here and talk sh*t about how "if that happened in my house...".

Kyle IS a great kid with a TERRIBLE drug problem.
These drugs are easily accessible in both TO and NP, maybe you should direct your energy making sure that your kid isn't going down the same path.
