Win gives Bryans ATP doubles crown
Camarillo's Mike and Bob Bryan have clinched their third consecutive Stanford ATP Doubles race.
The Bryans won their career-high ninth championship Sunday by defeating Poland's Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski, 6-3, 7-6 (4) in the Madrid Masters men's doubles final.
It was the 68th win in 77 matches this year for the world's No. 1-ranked doubles team.
"We took care of our serves all week," said Mike Bryan, "which was important in the altitude. It feels good to come here after a three-week break and take care of business. We want to keep the momentum going and finish the year strongly in Shanghai."
The Bryans have won six of the past 12 ATP Masters Series shields.
