More from VenturaNovember 22, 2007Save Dem Hillsides....On the commentary page of the Ventura County Star a letter was written by the chief Nimby's of Ventura. Ms Diane Underhill, President of Citizens for Hillside Preservation, and Ms Claudia Armann, Vice President of Citizens for Hillside Preservations. I personally know Ms Underhill and she is a very nice, intelligent, beautiful lady. I have not had the pleasure of meeting Ms Armann however if she is a friend of Ms Underhill I am certain she is a wonderful person also.Their letter was concerning the upcoming election for Ventura Council members. They emphatically back both Carl Morehouse and Bill Fulton. The reason being that supposedly both of these stalwart gentlemen were adamantly against the Open 80 Master Plan that would have allowed building in the hillsides above Ventura. No matter that the Open 80 Master Plan was with out a doubt one of the finest development plans to ever come to the city of Ventura, no matter that it included giving the city of Ventura 3000 acres of open park land with a trust fund set up to handle all maintenance in perpetuity, no matter that it would have increased the tax income, and doubled the economy of Ventura, no matter that it was a 20 year plan that would have generated hundreds of jobs. They were just against the plan because it was what the NIMBY'S and BANANA'S wanted.What surprises me about Ms Underhill and Ms Armann backing both Morehouse and Fulton is the fact that they( Morehouse & Fulton) being "smart planners" are both in favor of increased density in Ventura. That includes building 3 and 4 story buildings along Main and Thompson. It just never ceases to amaze me how some folks that are so nice have such skewed thinking. But by all means, if you want 3 & 4 story buildings along Main Street and Thompson get out there and vote for Morehouse and Fulton, as long as your there you might just as well vote for Weir too, since the only original thought that lady ever had was to think to go along with the guys with the ties on.VOTE NO ON C7 -------- VOTE NO ON INCUMBENTSRellis Smith
