Girl Scouts Brew Up Halloween Fun

Girl Scout Troop 1065 Plans Holiday Crafts for "Support for the Kids" Annual Fall Festival.

The Junior Girl Scouts of Troop 1065 in Thousand Oaks helped add to the fun at this year's Fall Festival hosted by Support for the Kids. As part of the work toward their Bronze Award, the Girl Scouts planned several holiday craft activities for the 750 youngsters who attended the event on Saturday, Oct. 20th.Support for the Kids is a non-profit organization that provides educational enrichment and comprehensive services to underprivileged foster children and their families in Ventura County. Among the group's special events each year is their Fall Festival, which attracts foster kids throughout Ventura County for a carefree afternoon of games, crafts and holiday activities.

The girls of Girl Scout Troop 1065 attend the fifth and sixth grades at St. Patrick's Episcopal Day School, Ascension Lutheran School, Oaks Christian School, and Madrona Elementary School. The troop is working on its Bronze Award, the highest honor for Junior-level Girl Scouts. In support of the Fall Festival, the girls developed several age-appropriate craft ideas, researched project costs, and collected materials in support of the day's event.
