Federer, Nalbandian, Bryans reach finals
Defending champion Roger Federer will play David Nalbandian in the final of the Madrid (Spain) Masters.
Federer defeated Nicolas Kiefer 6-4, 6-4, and Nalbandian defeated third-ranked Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-6 (4) on Saturday.
Camarillo's Bob and Mike Bryan reached the doubles final with a 6-1, 2-6, 10-4 tiebreak win over Nalbandian and Guillermo Canas of Argentina. The top-seeded Bryans will play Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski of Poland in today's final.
Henin to play Golovin for Zurich title: Justine Henin rallied to defeat Nicole Vaidisova 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 and advanced to the final of the Zurich (Switzerland) Open.
The top-ranked Henin will play Tatiana Golovin, who defeated Francesca Schiavone 6-0, 6-4 in the other semifinal.

McDynamo wins Breeders' Steeplechase
McDynamo drew off over the final half-mile to win his fifth straight $250,000 Breeders' Cup Grand National Steeplechase at Far Hills, N.J., beating Sweet Shani by six lengths.
Ridden by Jody Petty and trained by Sanna Hendriks, McDynamo took the lead for good down the backstretch.

Houston ends comeback attempt
Allan Houston ended his comeback attempt with the New York Knicks, saving Isiah Thomas from possibly having to cut one of the top scorers in franchise history.
Nuggets suspend Smith for first three games: Denver Nuggets guard J.R. Smith was suspended for the first three games of the regular season "for conduct detrimental to the team."
Nuggets player personnel director Mark Warkentien declined to specify Smith's transgression.

49ers waive starting linebacker Navies
The San Francisco 49ers waived linebacker Hannibal Navies and signed fullback Zak Keasey from the practice squad to the active roster before their game against the New York Giants.
Navies was doubtful for San Francisco's visit to New York today because of a knee injury.

Nyquist wins Dew Cup title in BMX dirt
Ryan Nyquist won his first Dew Cup title with a fifth-place finish in the BMX dirt finals, Greg Lutzka edged favorite Ryan Sheckler to win the skateboard park finals and Nate Adams won in FMX in the PlayStation Pro at Orlando, Fla.

Germany's Felix Sturm retained his WBA middleweight title, fighting to a draw with American Randy Griffin at Halle, Germany.
