Ventura defeats Dos Pueblos for first win

Brandon Dore, who two weeks ago was converted from safety to running back, rushed for 266 yards on 31 carries and four touchdowns to lead Ventura High to a 28-21 overtime victory over Dos Pueblos on Friday night at Valley Stadium in Santa Barbara.

It was Ventura's first win of the season.

Dore scored on a 16-yard run on the second play of overtime for the winning touchdown. Dos Pueblos failed on its four attempts from the 25-yard line.

Dore reeled off 65-yard scamper to put Ventura ahead 7-0 in the first quarter.

Dod Pueblos tied the score on a 1-yard run by Ronnie Arias with 6:59 left in the second quarter. But Ventura and Dore came right back and went ahead 14-7 score on a 2-yard run.

The Chargers would tie the score with 41 seconds left in the half on a 10-yard pass from quarterback Gary Braun to Zach Beasley.

Dore scored his third touchdown late in the third quarter on a 2-yard run to put the Cougars back in the lead, 21-14.

Dos Pueblos, however, would counter on a 45-yard run by Dane Limosnero to tie the score. The Chargers had chance to go ahead with 30 seconds left, but missed on a 49-yard field-goal attempt.
