10 Reasons to Join Ventura County Contractors Assn

10 REASONS TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE VENTURA COUNTY CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION

It's fall and the drive for membership is on at the Ventura County Contractor's Association, now celebrating its 61st year

Established in 1946, the Ventura County Contractors Association (VCCA) represents construction America at its best in our local community. Committed to dedication, education and specialization, the VCCA has become a powerful tool not only for the local construction industry but for the community as well.

A non-profit membership association with more than 600 members of general contractors, subcontractors, building material suppliers and many other leading construction industry businesses, it provides services throughout Ventura County's 10 incorporated cities, including Camarillo, Fillmore, Moorpark, Ojai, Oxnard, Pt. Hueneme, Santa Paula, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks and Ventura.

10 Reasons to Become a Member of the Ventura County Contractors Association

1. Members helping Members

Membership in VCCA provides the opportunity to work with other members to promote the construction industry in Ventura County. The combined power and strength of an organized group helps each member at a level greater than members could afford on their own.

2. Discounted Insurance

VCCA offers discounted workers' compensation insurance provided by State Compensation Insurance Fund with up to six percent premium savings available for the group. Discounted medical insurance was added in 2007 as an added feature to membership benefits.

3. Full-Service Plan Room

The only fully-operational facility of its kind between Monrovia and Santa Maria the VCCA's Plan Room is open six days a week and allows members access to examine bid documents for cost-estimating jobs on file. Members have free access to Cybercopy "on line plans" - a major reprographic firm in Ventura County and a VCCA member. The firm can scan and image nearly all bid documents in the Plan Room or from private sponsors. This is a powerful service and an asset available exclusively to VCCA members.

4. Exclusive Industry Publications

Construction Industry News, a publication of VCCA, is mailed to members every other week and includes an updated listing of documents on file with bid dates, architect and owner names, project scope and other pertinent information. In addition, member names are included in the annual Membership and Construction Services Directory, a comprehensive booklet listing all members in alphabetical order and by specialty trades.

5. Education and Advancement

Education of members is a primary focus of VCCA. Members can attend monthly dinner meetings featuring a guest speaker. Here, members are informed of the latest developments impacting the construction industry.

6. Member- Only Events

VCCA's Annual Golf Tournament in July; an Annual Outdoor BBQ held in August; year-round participation in Home Remodel Shows throughout Ventura County to promote VCCA member contractors, and the annual year-end Christmas Special in December are just a sampling of how members come together for more than business to establish friendship.

7. Keeping the Public Informed

Public awareness campaigns help to educate the general public on how to select a contractor for the job at hand through publications, the VCCA website and public relations provided to local media outlets. Referrals are provided from the central office to the public free of charge for members.

8. Safety Training and Seminars

Members are entitled to attend a variety of safety and training seminars throughout the year, including First Aid, CPR, forklift safety certification and selected others courtesy of State Fund Insurance. Training brochures and safety booklets are available to members in order to educate their staff.

9. Notary and Legal Services

In-house notary services are provided free of charge as a benefit to VCCA members as is a board member and officer of the corporation who provides legal counsel

10. Professional Associations
