Rap mogul 'Suge' Knight has run-in with security guards

Ventura County sheriff's deputies were called out to a Lake Sherwood neighborhood Wednesday after security guards and Death Row Records co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight argued about access to the gated enclave, authorities said.

At 11:56 a.m., deputies were summoned to the gate and guard booth on West Stafford Road after receiving calls from security personnel and Knight.

The rap-music mogul was on his way to the home of a woman described as his ex-wife, according to initial reports from the scene.

Detective Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department said security guards had a difficult time contacting the woman to get her approval to let him through, which resulted in an extended wait, Buschow said. Words were exchanged.

The episode ended without incident, Buschow said. "There was no crime," he said

Knight, 42, sought bankruptcy protection for himself and his record company in April 2006. He claimed debts of more than $100 million in each filing, the Associated Press reported.

In the 1990s, Death Row was home to recording artists such as Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur.
