Support the Arts in School at Sunrise Festival
Sunrise Youth Art & Music Festival
Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise and Simi Valley Town Center team to raise a targeted $20,000 for arts programs at local secondary schoolsSIMI VALLEY, CA- The second-annual Sunrise Youth Art & Music Festival, a venture to raise $20,000 for arts programs at local secondary schools, is scheduled for Oct. 27 and 28 at Simi Valley Town Center.
A joint venture between the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise and Simi Valley Town Center, the event was started a year ago to celebrate the regional shopping center's first anniversary by raising funds to boost arts programs at local schools. The event is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. each day Oct. 27-28 at 1555 Simi Town Center Way.
"October is National Arts & Humanities Month, and Simi Valley Town Center's anniversary happens to fall at the end of the month, so what an appropriate way to celebrate than have fun and raise funds for arts programs in public schools?" said Leticia Wilson, director of marketing for Simi Valley Town Center. "We are thrilled to team with Sunrise Rotary to help meet local school needs."
Visitors can support the arts in the public schools by enjoying exceptional talent and entertainment from local high school students, or participating in a fabulous raffle and an art competition. The Festival will be filled with music from bands and choirs, entertainment from musical theater and dance students, and an art show highlighting the works of student artisans. The highlight of the art show is the Pizza Box Art contest. Simi Valley secondary-school students were given California Pizza Kitchen pizza boxes to decorate as they wish. The boxes will be on display for the community to vote for the People's Choice award throughout the weekend activities. California Pizza Kitchen in the Simi Valley Town Center will also donate 20 percent of all purchases made during the week prior - Oct. 22 through Oct. 26 - for customers who present a flyer available for printing at www.simivalleytc.com/mimages/cpkfundraiser.pdf.Sponsorship banners are available, for $500 or $1,000 - and will be on display throughout the center beginning the week of Oct. 22. For $50, companies or individuals can have names displayed on a card and placed on a drape around the center stage. Spend the last weekend in October enjoying the entertainment from local high schools - and remember, all monies raised will support the arts at the local high schools.
