Nordhoff settles for tie at San Luis Obispo

More from FootballSan Luis Obispo High's Michael Connelly kicked a 37-yard field goal in the final minute of the game to boost the Tigers to a 17-17 non-league tie with visiting Norhoff on Friday.
Both coaches agreed to not extend the game into overtime to prevent injuries before beginning league play next week.
"There's no sense in getting an injury after the fact," San Luis Obispo coach Craig Winninghoff said.
The Tigers had a 14-3 lead at the half thanks to a pair of touchdowns by Bryan Lewelling.
Lewelling scored his first touchdown of the night on a 14-yard run in the first quarter and then posted a 1-yard run late in the first half.
Nordhoff snuck back into the game with 14 unanswered points in the second half.
Nordhoff's first score came on a running play from inside the Tigers' 10-yard line in the third quarter.
The Tigers fumbled on a punt return early in the fourth quarter, which set Nordhoff up at around the San Luis Obispo 25.
Nordhoff capitalized on the turnover with a score on the subsequent drive to take a 17-14 lead.
