Museum hosting yearly Holiday Ship Model Sale
The Ventura County Maritime Museum will present its annual Holiday Ship Model Sale through December at the museum.
A wide selection of sailing ship models is available, including decorator models as well as handcrafted, one-of-a-kind models, from small single-masted sailboats selling for $15 to $20, to 3-foot-long three-masted men-of-war complete with case and table for $800.
All proceeds from sales benefit the educational programs of the museum.
Members of the Maritime Museum Ship Model Guild will be on hand every weekend in December to demonstrate the craft of creating historically accurate, detailed ship models in miniature and will solve the mystery of how ships get inside bottles.
The Ventura County Maritime Museum is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, and is in Fisherman's Wharf in Channel Islands Harbor at Victoria Avenue and Channel Islands Boulevard in Oxnard. For more information, call 984-6260.
