Morning Report: Ventura police arrest stabbing suspect after chase

More from Other NewsPolice and Fire: Ventura police this morning said they arrested a suspect in a Halloween stabbing after he led them on a chase late last night.
The chase began when an officer spotted Larry Leivas driving near Victoria Avenue and Highway 101 in Ventura about 11:45 p.m., police said in a statement.
When the officer tried to stop Leivas, the 45-year-old Ventura man sped onto Highway 101 northbound, drove on Highway 33 to Casitas Springs then, with the officer still on his tail, turned around and headed back to Ventura.
Leivas then exited the freeway at Seaward Avenue in Ventura and pulled over, police said. He was taken into custody without further incident on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, robbery, conspiracy and felony evasion.
No one was injured and there were no traffic collisions during the pursuit.
Leivas is a suspect in a stabbing that occurred in the 2600 block of Preble Avenue in Ventura on Halloween. One person sustained minor injuries in the incident.

A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving last night after he crashed into a mobile home in Simi Valley, police said.
No one was hurt in the accident, which occurred about 9:49 p.m. at 1550 Rory Lane, police said.

Traffic: At 6:55 a.m., the California Highway Patrol was not reporting any traffic accidents or hazards on county roadways.

Weather: Sunny conditions with high temperatures in the 70s and 80s are expected today after thick morning fog clears. The fog is reducing visibility to as little as 1/4 mile in some areas this morning, the National Weather Service this morning.
Warm winds expected to start blowing this evening will to contribute to fire prone conditions through the weekend.
A red-flag warning is scheduled to go into effect at 10 p.m. and remain in place until Sunday at 8 p.m. Red-flag warnings indicate conditions in which fires can start easily and spread quickly.

Larry needs to grow up already... I know of him and he has been nothing but trouble since his teens. 45 years old and stabbing on Halloween? That is suppose to be a fun night for children. He needs to stay where he is now forever. Stop causing problems on our streets, he hasnt changed and never will. Now we can expect another shooting, stabbing for pay back for this one. God these people need to disappear!

Thanks, VPD, for a job well done. It takes skill, good judgment and courage to pick one vehicle out of many, especially if they are moving --- then to do what it takes to apprehend the perp.

This is my dad and it wasnt even him who did the stabbing yes he must have been doing something wrong if he was accused for stabbing someone and if you read this dad this dissapoints me what people are writing about this..... LOL!!!! who would write that about a stabbing...... LMFAO???? Thats not funny at all someone got hurt and you are laughing...... its just stupid i bet they are some of my dads friends to.... huh i am just hoping that my dad will come to his senses and just grow up pretty much even though i love him
