Fillmore man arrested in drive-by shooting
Authorities Thursday identified a Fillmore man arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that injured a Fillmore teenager the night before.
Juan Rodriguez, 18, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after the shooting, according to the Sheriff's Department. The shooting occurred about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 300 block of Rhodes Court in Fillmore.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was crossing the street with a 19-year-old friend when a blue pickup truck made a U-turn and someone inside fired two shots at them, sheriff's Capt. Monica McGrath said.
The bullets hit the 16-year-old in the leg and the pelvis. His wounds did not appear to be life-threatening, McGrath said, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment. His friend was not injured, authorities said.

What is going on with Fillmore? Used to be a lot nicer and safer town to live in. I have a 16 yr old and I just understand how this 18 yr old KID got a gun. Were are his parents? So very sad that a 16 yr old kid cant walk across the street in Fillmore anymore.

The alledged shooter is 18 years old. He's an adult. He's responsible for his own actions. Who cares where his parents are. They are not responsible, now...he is.
Quick work VCSD.

I wonder why the STAR deleted some of the comments associated with this article. someone posted a link showing that the shooter was arrested about a week ago, during a raid from authorities. since that article was also posted in the STAR, I dont see the reason for deletion. I think the people should be able to read about the connection. and people should realize that these losers are just that. losers. they get arrested one week for probation violations, get out of jail the next day, and are arrested the following week for trying to kill someone. sounds like a giant waste of taxpayers money, always having to house this loser, and feed him. perhaps he should go live in a third world country, where this type of behavior is not frowned upon. stupid loser. I hope you rot in hell.

I wonder if this was gang related? I would bet yes!
Great comment FedUp! Right there with you!

Why is is when a crime occurs, the CITY is all of a sudden a bad one to live in? Is there such a thing as a perfect place to live?

Fillmore's a good place. Like any town, there is some scum. The shooter and the victim are both involved in gangs. This was not random and is related to the murder in May. Kudos to the VCSD who got it done. We can only hope that this is the last shooting but not the last gang member to get arrested.

But they arent in a gang. They are all such good children. Oh and they arent Mexican either. One more confirmation on what is happening in these towns, cities. Its all the same. No excuses, no on to blame. Its a part of life now. NO one can fix the problem so just dodge the flying bullets.

I'm sorry but in my eyes this person is still only 18 and a KID. Its just so sad that young people are resorting to this kind of violence. It scares me to send my son to school or even to allow him to walk on the street.

I also have noticed that comments that should not be deleted are deleted for no reason at all. I hope that the Star is prepared for a lawsuit if they continue to delete comments that are not "off topic, defamatory, obscene, abusive, threatening or an invasion of privacy", because that would be a violation of free speech.

FifthAmmendment..."a lawsuit" for what? The FIRST amendment protects our free speech from federal legislature...not a newspaper(a business). But hey good luck with that lawsuit.

Actually the STAR is the only paper I have seen that gives people the opportunity to express thier comments..............if people complain they will take it away. They do NOT have to have this section.

HEY FIFTHAMMENDMENT, I THINK IT'S BEST IF YOU JUST POST COMMENTS THAT ARE APPROPRIATE & ABIDE BY THE STAR'S RULES, & NOT JUST YOU, BUT EVERYONE. IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT. ALSO, ANNAWHAAT IS RIGHT, THAT THE STAR IS THE ONLY ONE THAT LET'S US PEOPLE POST COMMENTS, SO JUST BARE WITH IT.
