The award was presented by former scoutmaster Bill Klope. Other ceremony participants were Patrick Gorski, Jeff Dolan, Max Ellis, Rock Ellis, Jordan Hendrix, Mark Burnell, Steven Greco and Ryan Snider. Eagle Scouts there were Rick Glenn, Neil Stephenson, Roice Bassett, Patrick Gorski and Klope.
Joshua is a member of Boy Scout Troop 155, sponsored by Ventura East Rotary. His mentors are Klope and Glen Gorski, scoutmaster of Troop 155.
